No Time To Die Linen Belted Jacket

We don’t know much about Lashana Lynch’s character Nomi in No Time To Die, but we know she’s a total badass. From the brief glimpses we’ve seen in the trailers, it’s obvious she can go toe-to-toe with Bond. We also know she has style—while the trailers mostly show her commando outfit, the other clips and photos we’ve seen suggest that she, like Bond, has a wardrobe that is both stylish and functional.

One piece of hers that caught my attention is this Tom Ford Linen Belted Jacket. According to Tom Ford’s website, the jacket is inspired by Mr. Ford’s field jacket. But for Bond fans it also no doubt evokes the many safari jackets Roger Moore sported during his tenure as Bond.

The jacket itself is constructed from viscose linen in “white lily” and features patch pockets on the chest and hips, epaulettes on the shoulders, and a belt at the waist. The buttons are black horn buttons, which creates a stark contrast against the white linen jacket. If you’re so inclined, the Tom Ford Linen Belted Jacket is still available in limited sizes through tomford.com for $2,690.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly alternative to the Tom Ford jacket, check out this option from Banana Republic.

The Banana Republic Heritage Cotton-Linen Safari Jacket is available in both cream and green. The photo on the right gives you a good idea of the jacket’s features.

This jacket, part of Banana Republic’s recently released Heritage Collection, is a near-perfect match for the Tom Ford jacket. It’s constructed from a cotton-linen blend in “transitional cream” and, like the Tom Ford, features patch pockets on the chest and hips, shoulder epaulettes, and a belt. Both jackets are shorter length, ending just below the hips.

The differences between the two jackets are minor, but they’re worth mentioning. Most noticeably, the Banana Republic buttons are a medium to dark brown color (it’s actually hard to tell because they don’t look consistent in the product photos) instead of black, and the chest pockets only have one button instead of two. Another difference is that the Banana Republic belt is extra-long and the buckle matches the jacket, unlike the Tom Ford jacket which has a gunmetal buckle for added contrast.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly alternative to Nomi’s Tom Ford Linen Belted Jacket, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better option than this Banana Republic Heritage Cotton-Linen Safari Jacket. And don’t be intimidated by the $179 price tag. I’ve seen the jacket on sale for as low as $89 and with Labor Day sales just four days away (at the time of posting), I expect it’ll be back under $100 soon.
